I watched David Copperfield's first special (in his series) in 1978. In time, I've come to appreciate the poignant and thought-provoking stories behind his illusions, including the Attic (DeKolta Chair) that he performed with the stunning Valerie Bertinelli ("One Day At A Time")in his second TV special. What made that performance stick, in my opinion, is Barry Manilow's haunting classic "Weekend in New England" celebrating the importance of memories and love between friends.
